Really good food and nice people

What happens when you don't have competition--the owners don't appreciate your business. Although I get food there on at least a monthly basis, and I give their kids a tip each time they are there, the owner doesn't seem to see fit to give me a calendar because I didn't spend $25 on food.I wouldn't dare say anything as they could contaminate my future orders.I do like the food, but the lack of appreciation is disappointing.

The original owners sold the place, and the food is not the same. The rice is smoosh, food barely has any flavor, ordered shrimp with broccoli and it was gross. They don’t put egg in the rice. Wish the old owners were back.

Good Chinese for the area... great portions. Down side, cash only (so come with cash) atm down the block. Call ahead and order as they tend to get busy!!

I love this place! The food is always excellent and the owners/operators are always super nice! Try the boneless spareribs, they're amazing!

A few years ago, I would've given this place a 2 star review at best. But ever since it came under new ownership it has completely turned around! The food we received during our visit was exceptional. Their rice is fully cooked, and you can actually taste everything in it! General Tso's was not all stuck together and chewy, it was perfectly glazed with a slight crunch to it. Perfect.Inside looks clean, as did the kitchen. Staff was very friendly as well.I will most certainly be coming back. Although I think they set the expectation bar pretty high with this visit!

BEST CHINESE AROUND! Cash only but we’ll worth it! Best boneless spare ribs, Szechuan chicken, Sesame chicken/General Tso and lo mein!!! Quilts Chinese at a great price! Super friendly and neighborly. DON’T GO ANYWHERE ELSE!

Absolutely the worst Chinese food. Very greasy and the staff is very rude. Ordered over $40 in food and they wouldn't provide any extra napkins or soy sauce. The food tasted like it had just came out of a microwave. I'd rather drive to Hawley or Dickson City where the food is much better and FRESH.

Best Chinese food around. I've never found better hot and sour soup anywhere else. General Tso's has great flavor. Shrimp toast, egg rolls, and steamed dumplings are all wonderful here. I make the trip to Hawley just to go here.

Idk what the others are talkomg about. But ive eaten chinese food in all the boros of nyc. I can say this place is amazing. The best spair ribs ive ever had that includes p.a. and nyc.

The China house has been a staple in most households in Hawley for as long as I can remember. The food has always been excellent. Although lately with the new owners, I have found some of the foods to be a little different. The General Tso's chicken has been so hot(spicy) that we have been unable to eat it. Some of the other dishes have been a little different as well. Kind if disappointing. I can't seem to put my finger on the other differences but they are noticeable. Not in a good way. Maybe we were just spoiled by the previous owners. We'll keep trying , because it's close and maybe they are in their breaking in period. The steamed dumplings are still wonderful! Love them! A bit pricey, doesn't accept any payment other than cash. Conveniently enough, they have an ATM machine at the take out counter, where they are more than happy to charge a $2.25 ATM fee, in addition to the pricey food. The food I ordered was disgusting and the chicken in my chicken & broccoli meal contained mostly fat and skin and barely looked fully cooked through. I threw it out. The sweet & sour chicken was edible, however, the sweet & sour sauce was already congealed into a jello like consistency even before having the chance to eat that meal. Its out of the way, but drive to Panda in Lords Valley. I have been a customer for 15 years and have never been disappointed.

Not much to look at and they only accept cash, so go to your atm first! Otherwise the good is excellent! Amazing Singapore Mei Fun and steamed dumplings!

For a take out place this is my go to. Eating in isn't the best considering the place isn't well kept, but don't be fooled by that. The food always comes out the same so you never have to worry about bad food coming with you out the door. Prices are fair, food is great.

Food is good and so are the prices. Food is better here then in most NYC Chinese places. Beef with oyster sauce is great, general tso's chicken has no spice to it, tastes like sweet and sour chicken.

I was at the China house yesterday about 4 in the afternoon to 4:30 there was a line of people. I ordered General Tao chicken, hot and sour soup and egg roll. It was absolutely the worst Chinese order I've ever had I'll never return to China House. The general Chow chicken was way over cooked soup tasted poorly they had no hot sauce they had no hot mustard for my egg roll they were kind of surly they we're very busy but food was terrible. If you can't make this order what can you make? Very disappointed. I do not like to write negative reviews however this was so bad the owners need to pick up their game significantly.

Service is fast and more affordable than the one in Honesdale PA. Also, the food quality on some items is better than the one in Hawley.

i had a pebble in my chicken (even tho i ordered beef) and i bit it in half how do you get rocks in the food did they drop it?always forgets to give mustard charges for hot mustard

I have eaten Chinese food in China Town, Brooklyn, North Jersey and Rockland County NY. I believe I have a good idea what good Chinese food taste like, at least what I like. This has to be the worst Chinese food I have ever tasted. I gave it three tries, ordering my different favorite foods each time, and one was worse than the other. The bone in ribs were just slathered with the sweetest sickening BBQ sauce I ever experienced. Gen Tso's was soggy balls of battered chicken pieces soaked with more sweet sickening sauce. Wonton soup nothing special. I wish it wasn't this bad because it's convenient stopping to grab take out on my way home from work, but, everything I ordered was terrible.

Such great food first time trying it and it did not disappoint

By far one of the best places to have great Chinese food and me and my family are always treated like family when we go there. My kids love the family who owns the restaurant. We will not go anywhere else for Chinese food but only China house.
